7 Self-Love Tips for Valentine's Day

Whether you have a valentine or you're still looking for the perfect catch, self love should be your first love -always!


These 7 tips make self love easy...


1. POSITIVE SELF TALK


You know that voice in your head that never seems to switch off?


Ask yourself if it's friendly and kind, or is it a bit of a bully?


So many of us bad mouth ourselves with unwanted thoughts: 'I feel fat, this looks awful, I'm a bad mum, my boss hates me.' You know the stories.


Pay attention to how you speak to yourself. If it's not how you'd speak to someone you love, don't speak to yourself that way!


SELF-LOVE TIP: If you catch yourself in negative self talk, stop first. The consciously choose something more encouraging.


2. KNOW YOUR LIMITS


Too much of anything can be unhealthy, whether it's food, people, alcohol, parties, work - even exercise.


When you go beyond your limits on any of the above, you might find yourself frustrated, overcommitted, overweight, overwhelmed, exhausted, stressed out or all of the above!

SELF-LOVE TIP: Know when you've had your fill, and take it down a notch before it gets too much.


3. GET SOME REST


With all the work, exercise, parties, commitments and catch ups, rest is rarely a priority. Yet rest is when your body heals, repairs, restores and makes sense of your life experiences. Let's face it, we're generally much nicer than our tired selves!

SELF-LOVE TIP: Love yourself enough to choose rest when you need it, regardless of what other people need.



4. CARE FOR YOUR BODY


You've only got one, and it's kind of irreplaceable! If you treat your body like a garbage dump, it will eventually look and feel like one. SELF-LOVE TIP: Fill up on fresh, healthy foods. Avoid alcohol, drugs and other toxins. Move more than you sit. Breathe fresh air. Boost your intake of nutrients that support good health.


5. ADD A LITTLE SOUL


This looks a little different for everyone, but we all need something to believe in. It might be religious, it might be spiritual, ritual or just grounding. It can take forms from prayer, to community, to music, dance, surfing or spending time in nature.


SELF-LOVE TIP: Find things that make your soul sing and do them more often.



6. GIVE & RECEIVE SUPPORT


Human beings evolved in tribes. We're not designed to be alone and can't thrive that way. Use the support that's around you and give as much as you get. Giving and receiving are equally important for feel-good vibes to flow.
